Amirabdollahian talks with Indian counterpart on phone

In response to the Indian foreign minister’s question on the latest status of campaign against the COVID-19 disease, Amirabdollahian referred to the satisfactory process of nationwide vaccination, which is quite positive, adding, “We have been successful in controlling the spread of the virus and thus far 89% of our people have been vaccinated twice, a large portion of them are getting the 3rd dose.”

About the prevailing conditions in Afghanistan, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized the need for establishment of a comprehensive government there and referring to India’s humanitarian aids to Afghanistan, said that Iran, too, has forwarded many batches of wheat, medicine, and coronavirus vaccines to Afghanistan.

About the Vienna negotiations for removal of sanctions, Amirabdollahian said that the talks are progressing in the right direction, reiterating, “We have good intentions and have the required will for achieving a good agreement and if the western side, too, has the same good will and strong determination, then we can reach a good agreement.”

The Indian foreign minister, too, in the phone talk said that unfortunately the number of Indian patients of the COVID-19 is increasing, but speed of the vaccination process is satisfactory and thus the pandemic disease can be controlled in a while.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also spoke highly about the upcoming visit of the Iranian foreign minister to India, which he said will provide a very good opportunity for development of bilateral cooperation.
